Show Info: The story itself is a play within a play about a writer, Miguel de Cervantes, and his manservant who are put in a dungeon due to the Spanish Inquisition. Cervantes has written many stories about Don Quixote, his friend Sancho Panza, and their travels in turbulent 17th century Spain. The leader of the dungeon prisoners wants to take all the possesions of the two new arrivals, but Cervantes will not part with his thick manuscript of stories. He challenges the prisoners to take a vote after hearing the stories about galantry, chivalry, and the famous "tilting" at windmills. They agree, and become actors in the manuscript stories, and thus begins the play within a play.
